Who said that no good bands could arrive on the international independent rock scene from Italy? Take for example, a group with valid artistic credentials like these no-longer-kids from the north of the country. Angry as hell, their rough and uncompromising live sound and the ironically theatrical stage show, have made some people describe IL TEATRO DEGLI ORRORI as 'the best live band in Italy'? But IL TEATRO DEGLI ORRORI is also a down-to-earth power rock band that has just released its first album and performed more than a hundred of concerts in Italy plus a few rare appearances abroad. IL TEATRO DEGLI ORRORI (the theatre of the horrors) takes its name from the Antonine Artaud "Th??tre de la Cruaut?". The band was born two years ago from the meeting of three well known musicians of the italian independent scene: Pierpaolo Capovilla, singer and bass player of One Dimensional Man, one of the most esteemed bands since the end of the '90s, Francesco Valente, the new drummer of the same, and Gionata Mirai, vocals and guitar with Super Elastic Bubble Plastic, another italian cult band. After having rehearsed as trio for a while, Giulio Favero, who was used to be the guitar player with One Dinmensional Man some years before, joined the band as bass player. Now that they're a quartet, IL TEATRO DEGLI ORRORI begins to make its very own music. They'll remind you of the Melvins as well of King Crimson, Scratch Acid or The Jesus Lizard. But the songwriting and its performance are something like a Carmelo Bene playing Darby Crash instead of Hamlet. The first album of IL TEATRO DEGLI ORRORI had been released by La Tempesta Records - February 2007. Titled "Dell'Impero delle Tenebre", it has been reviewed like one of the best italian rock album of ever.
